The Cure in Camel Milk, a Miraculous Medicine

For most of the human experience, food has been something we searched, worked or hunted for because it was a source of nourishment and sustenance. Today, food has become something we are trying to avoid because it is the source of disease and cancer that is slowly killing us. This is in part due to a culture of overeating and in part due to the inorganic, toxic way our food is cultivated. Thanks to Monsanto, we aren't eating corn or soy, we're eating a genetically modified pesticide. In the richest nation in the world, heart disease, diabetes and cancer are killing us more than anything else. Clearly, the food is not nourishing us and their lab made medicines are not curing us either.

As a result, people are changing how they think about food. We're looking for the organic, non-GMO (non-genetically modified), sustainably raised/grown foods. We are looking for the medicine in food. Which brings me to Camels' Milk. Camels' milk is just that, medicine. Please note I have posted links to medical research articles throughout this post and I've put all the links together at the end for your reference. Please don't expect the health care industry or your local practitioner to substantiate these claims because the pharmaceutical industry has too much to lose if we all can get healthy without their drugs. United Nations Praises Camel Milk

WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT CAMELS?

The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its remedy."

That gives us hope to find the cures put in the Earth to heal us from our illnesses. Well here's one way to think about it. Camels live in a particular environment, namely the desert. This is a harsh environment where it is hard to find food or water. The camel, however, is equipped with what it needs not only to survive in the desert but to thrive. Its milk helps not only its own young but also people in the desert thrive. Camels are a remarkable animal. Can you believe they can go for 5 to 7 days without water or food? Once they find water, they can drink up to 21 lbs of water in 10 minutes. Interestingly, the top 5 countries with the highest number of camels are not Arabian, but African. Somalia comes in first place with 7 million camels, then Sudan, Kenya, Niger, and Chad. Saudi Arabia comes in at number 18. Ranking of countries according to number of camels.

WHAT DOES CAMELS' MILK CURE OR ALLEVIATE SYMPTOMS OF?

Here is a list of some of the health issues camel's milk either completely cures, aids in curing, or alleviates the symptoms of. Please note, there are many more that we can add to this list.

Autism
Diabetes
Tuberculosis
Leaky gut
Chron's
Digestion Issues
Allergies
Eczema
Viruses
Flu
Common Cold
Parasites
Stomach ulcers
Cancer
Lupus
AIDS
Herpes
Hepatitis

One of the first diseases that camel milk was found to cure is Lupus. Lupus is one of the five connective tissue diseases. Lupus is a particular disease that is highly susceptible to high temperatures such that people who suffer from the disease need to avoid very hot climates. So it is interesting that the milk produced by the most heat resistant animal in the world is helpful in curing and aiding the symptoms of lupus.

There is a large and growing population of children who suffer from autism who are showing remarkable gains from camel's milk. There are parents all over the internet sharing their children's improvements. Some parents have reported their child has started giving eye contact after drinking camel milk. Others have reported their child has started talking more. Some parents said their child went from speaking one or two words to full sentences. These are huge gains for autistic children!

When I was growing up, diabetes was our grandparents or an unlucky aunt's disease. Today, we have at least one friend in their 40s with it and likely know of at least one child suffering from juvenile diabetes.

"Once diabetic patients start insulin therapy, they have to take it permanently and usually insulin dose continue to increase as time progresses. Clinical research on the use of camel milk by patients with type 1 diabetes has indicated that drinking camel milk daily decreases the blood glucose level and reduces insulin requirement by 30% [18]. It appears that camel milk provides an insulin-like protein in a different form than in other mammals and/or delivers some other therapeutic compounds that boosts the health of diabetic patients." Science Direct: Camel milk as a potential therapy for controlling diabetes and its complications: A review of in vivo studies

"It may be stated that camel milk is safe and efficacious in improving long-term glycemic control, with a significant reduction in the doses of insulin in type 1 diabetic patients." European Journal of Clinical Nutrition (2011) 65, 1048–1052; doi:10.1038/ejcn.2011.98; published online 1 June 2011

The article above from the European Journal of Clinical Nutrition is about a study on 12 subjects. In their study, the insulin requirement was actually reduced to zero as a result of drinking camel milk! Cancer patients recover far better when they add camel's milk to their chemotherapy treatment in two ways. When camels' milk is combined with chemo, the detriments of chemo (such as vomiting, hair loss etc. are lessened while the benefits are heightened). Cancer patients have been noted to handle the chemo better, recover better and even go into remission when the drink camel's milk along with their chemo treatment. Breast cancer patients should drink camel milk because it has been discovered that camel milk is able to help fight and suppress breast cancer. Here are a few links to that research: The Growth Inhibitory Potential and Antimetastatic Effect of Camel Urine on Breast Cancer Cells In Vitro and In Vivo.

"The management of cancer in human yet remains a major challenge in contemporary medicine. Natural products have been identified as one of the sources of numerous therapeutic agents. Camel's milk and urine are among such natural products enriched with molecules that are safe to humans and endowed with profound anti-cancer properties. In vitro studies of the anti-cancer effects of these products are mainly attributed to inhibition of carcinogenesis and mutagenesis, proliferation, and induction of apoptosis. Camel products also showed an improvement in the life span and the survival of animals among the in vivo studies recorded, an effect mainly caused via clearance of malignant tumors in various organs and inhibition of progression to metastasis." Journal of Cancer Science and Therapy

Viral diseases such as AIDS, Herpes and Hepatitis are highly susceptible to the antibodies in camels' milk. So while the virus may not completely disappear, people are noticing great improvements in dealing with their viral diseases from drinking camel's milk.

This is me in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, petting the she-camel that cured me!

The only reason I know anything about the cure of camel milk is from my own experience in 2014. My husband and I took a trip to Arabia to do a holy pilgrimage. One our first day in Makkah, we became ill. We both had a serious flu with headache, stomach issues, and fever that wouldn't go away. We stayed that way for four days straight until we traveled to another holy city four hours away, Madinah. In Madinah, we met some friends who took us to the side of a mountain called Uhud.
There, we went to a camel farm. A beautiful she-camel was being milked as we walked up. Our friend brought us a bowl, not a cup, a silver bowl of milk that just came out of this beautiful she-camel and insisted we drink it.

Now, you know we are Americans, born and raised on pasteurized cow milk. We were terrified to try it but if you know Arabs, they won't allow you to deny their hospitality. So we hesitantly sipped it. To our surprise, it tasted amazing. In our opinion, it tastes better than cow's milk, it is slightly sweet and very smooth. Now, when we arrived at the camel farm, our stomachs were very upset and we were literally walking around with a fever. Within 30 to 45 minutes, I kid you not, we were cured. There is no over the counter flu or fever medication that has ever worked so well or so fast.

We enjoyed the rest of our stay and actually felt better than when we did before we traveled. In addition to that, the eczema on my back cleared up as did my facial acne. Unfortunately, once I got back to Dallas, my skin issues came back. So upon our return home, we started looking into it. I've been fascinated by the health benefits that modern medicine has found in it. But apparently, the cure in camel milk was known to the Arabs and Africans for a very long time.
At the time of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), some people came to Madinah and got ill. Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) directed them to drink the camel's milk and urine as a cure. Interestingly today, modern medicine has found through research and experiments that camel milk and urine have anti-cancerous effects. Journal of Cancer Science and Therapy

THE FASCINATING SCIENCE BEHIND THE CURES IN CAMEL'S MILK

Camel's milk is high in potent immunoglobulins. Their immunoglobulins are incredibly powerful immune system boosters. In addition to that, camel's immunoglobulins are much smaller than a human's. It is for this reason that these dynamic immune system boosters pass through our tissues far more easily than other immunoglobulins. Now we understand a little more why camel's milk is superior as a cure for various illnesses.

"Camels have an amazing and complex immune system, different from all other mammalians as reported by Hamers-Casterman et al. (1993)" Journal of Applied Animal Research

Another reason it is able to cure / improve the immune systems and digestive systems of people is that camel's milk has UNIQUE antibodies. This is the heart of the reason why camel's milk is such a powerful cure. It's antibody only carries a heavy chain. This is opposed to humans who carry three chains of antibodies. We carry a Y shaped heavy chain and two light chains. Instead of a Y shaped chain or a light chain of antibodies, the camels have one type of antibody chain which is heavy, loop shaped and essentially acts a database of various diseases and viruses. The data contained in the looped chain of the camel's antibodies is the arguably the most fascinating thing about its' milk.
Malcolm X in Egypt and camel making a cameo!

Now you might think that having three types of antibody chains is better than one but that one heavy, loop shaped antibody chain the camel's milk carries is far superior to the human being's. The information/ database has been called a sort of warning system for the camel. Because of all the bytes of information in the camel's antibodies, camel's antibodies are able to recognize all sorts of diseases and viruses. Scientists have not yet discovered why no other land creature carries this heavy chain. This is simply an astounding fact that camels are the only animals that carry it.

For example, animals from tigers to chickens catch the bird flu (avian influenza), but not the camel. The camel is not susceptible to this and other sicknesses because its antibodies already carry the information to identify them and protect them from it.

Camel milk is an excellent source of probiotics, specifically in the form of lactic-acid bacteria.  These probiotics protect the intestines from staph and inhibits ecoli. Camel milk has Lactobacillus plantarum which helps with leaky gut because it reduces IgD food sensitivities.

"Camel milk as a supplemental treatment seems less invasive and costly than specialist care, medications, alternative treatments, and behavioral interventions. Based on our findings, camel milk is safer for children, effective in the treatment of autism, improves general well-being, promotes body natural defenses, is a good nutritional source, and can help the daily nutritional needs of humans." US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health Research Results

  • Significant source of probiotics
  • Gastrointestinal healing from the unique protein structure that rebuilds the mucosal lining of the gut whereas cow milk has inflammatory beta-casomorphins that create leaky gut issues
  • Very high mineral content
  • Has protective proteins which are anti-fungal, antiviral and antibacterial
  • Three times the vitamin C of cow's milk
  • Camel's  milk is high in protein, low in cholesterol and naturally low fat and low in milk sugar (lactose).
  • High in insulin so it is absorbed more easily
  • Significantly higher in B3 than cow milk
  • Diabetics are able to reduce the amount of insulin needed when drinking camel's milk
  • Safe enough and easy enough to digest for newborn babies
  • 3 times the amount of vitamin C as cow milk
  • 10 times the amount of iron than cow milk
  • Significantly higher amounts of copper
  • 2 different types of casein
  • DOES NOT have beta lactoglobulin which is in cow milk and causes most milk allergies
  • Camel's milk has been proven to be highly successful in treating the Hepatitis viruses.
  • Fats in camel's milk are homogenized and are naturally occurring Omega-3 fatty acids (not in cow milk)
  • The type of fat camel's milk has allows it to be frozen and thawed without the curdling or clotting that occurs in cows milk
  • You don't have to buy low-fat camel milk because it is naturally low fat (2-3%)
  • Lower amount of shorter chain fatty-acids but a higher amount of long chain fatty-acids
  • Higher amount of unsaturated fatty-acids and essential fatty-acids similar to what you see in olive oil, seeds and nuts

QUESTIONS TO ASK A CAMEL MILK PRODUCER BEFORE YOU BUY IT

  • What are the camels fed?  Just as you are concerned about what the cows and chickens are fed, you need ask similar questions of the camel farmers. Whatever the animal eats will come out in the milk. Are they grain fed? Are they given steroids, antibiotics or hormones?
  • Do they test for pathogenic bacteria? If they do, ask them if you may see the results of their tests. They shouldn't have a problem sharing that data with you.
  • How long are they milked, how often are they pregnant? So with these questions, we are trying to make sure they are being treated ethically. If they are not, they won't be producing the best milk anyway.
  • Where are the camels raised and how? Are they pasture grazing or are they locked up some where?

BEST FORM TO DRINK CAMELS MILK

Fresh, Raw and Unpasteurized is the best! I know this might sound scary to some people but this is actually the only way to get all the health benefits of it. If we just think about it for a moment, how did human beings drink their milk for thousands of years?

There is a notable difference between raw unpasteurized and pasteurized camels milk. There's also a difference between what type of pasteurization process the camels milk goes through. A high heat pasteurization process takes away a lot of the health benefits while a low heat pasteurization process. Frozen, unpasteurized is second best. You can also buy camel milk powder. Powder that was low heat pasteurized comes in 3rd place as it still preserves the antioxidant benefit but loses the probiotics and immunoglobulin effects. Camel milk powder that was high heat pasteurized comes in last place. The high heat kills the nutrients, probiotics and immunoglobulin effects.

Camel's milk does not have beta casein (A1). It's the beta casein in cow's milk that wreaks havoc on our digestive systems. More importantly, beta lactoglobulins are absent from camel's milk. It is those beta lactoglobulins in cow's milk that causes so many allergies and other issues. Instead, camel's milk has a high amount of immunoglobulins which actually reduce the amount of allergic reactions a person will have. In fact, studies have shown that drinking camel's milk has reversed the allergic reaction to cow's milk in children. You can find this study in the Israel Medical Association Journal (IMAJ).  The children in this study had an anaphylactic reaction to cow's milk and had developed several food allergies. After drinking camel's milk, they were able to drink cow's milk with no allergic reaction. Astonishing results!

IMMUNOLOGICAL BENEFITS OUTWEIGH BREAST MILK

Camel's milk has an antibiotic structure that is one of a kind. It has 2 times the amount of immunological benefits than breast milk. Shocking right? I've always taken pride in breast feeding my children and thought that mother's milk was the best thing for my children in regard to building their immune system. So this was definitely a shocker to me.

CAMELS ARE MENTIONED IN THE QURAN

"Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made? And at the Sky, how it is raised high? And at the mountains, how they are fixed firm? And at the Earth, how it is spread out? Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou are one to admonish." Quran Chapter 88 Verses 17-21  Clearly in the Quran, we are being advised to look at these different creations and ponder. After learning about the cures put in the camel, I can now see why. According to Islamic texts, camels are the only species that was domesticated for humans to drink milk. This was nearly 3500 BC when God Almighty gave the camel to Prophet Saleh (peace be upon him) solely for drinking her milk. What ever your beliefs, there is no doubt that people are finding more benefits in this milk every day and scientists are researching to find out why. I hope the best for everyone and pray everyone will give camel milk a try to improve your health and the health of your family members.
