This Ramadan This Ramadan, I promise to appreciate this treasure This month of the Quran is when 40 years of lessons come together All the years prior, aching to find my center Where mind, body, heart and soul synergize with pleasure Whenever I’d seem to get a hold of one, I’d lose the other But something feels so promising after this year’s Shaban As if after so many storms in life weathered A calmness and clear skies open before you And it’s time for you to show Allah what you can do Like all the Ramadan’s prior lead up to this So to truly dig deep in the soil of my spirit, connect to the source of this deen, and grow my spiritual roots is my wish So please, Ya Rabbi, let this be that Ramadan that I bring it all together, And I finally begin my run to you on Sirat al-Mustaqeem, From here on till F o r e v e r Ameen -Basira Robinson
