Here is a beautiful expression of what we are dealing with during this epidemic by a local DFW (Dallas-Fort Worth) Muslim Artist. But first, a short bio of the author.
Realization
Yesterday, I was finally free.
Had it been months, or years,
Since my confinement?
In deadlines and due dates.
Imprisoned in the debilitating demands,
Of society and self.
Shackled by schedules,
Endless expectations,
And the oppressive weight,
Of everyone's opinion.
I was finally alone...
With myself. With my Lord.
Yesterday, I finally lived.
Had it been months, or years,
Since my demise?
Was the grass always this green?
Lavishly adorning the landscape.
Craddles my feet.
The parting rain clouds parade,
For the glorious sun.
The intoxicating perfume of a rain-drenched breeze,
Leaves me breathless.
Serenaded with memories of soaking feet,
In the puddles of neighborhood streets.
The storm returns...
As the day unravels in all its majesty,
The air lights up,
In an explosive, orange glow.
And a rainbow races across the sky,
Just as dusk departs,
Bowing deferentially,
Making way for the night.
We mourn that our masjid,
Are shackled, shut.
Our ears strain,
For some soothing recitation.
We have forgotten in our confinement,
That the whole Earth is a masjid for us.
Seek the congregation of His Creation,
Sync your spirituality,
To the symphony of their tasbeeh,
And find solace for your soul.
